Specifications (specs) are specific to each set of plans we do – no matter if they are stock plans, modified plans, or a total custom draw from start to finish. These optional specs are attached to each copy of your plans at the time of printing.

Near the end of the design process, HGDG will call to set an appointment to write your specs. This meeting is extremely important and usually lasts five or more hours. During this interactive discussion, you will go through each item on the spec sheet and decide which materials you want in your home – just like preparing a grocery list. This comprehensive list outlines the description, type, and size of material needed to build your home.

Included are:

This handy list helps you and your builder cost out materials and serves as a ready reference sheet when you are compiling bids. It also provides a cross check against the materials specified on the plans. For the layman this 6 page document is critical to building your house correctly.

When combined with the house plans, a signed contract, and schedule, the specifications become a legal document and record for building your new home.

This questionnaire is for our clients to download & try to complete by checking or filling-in the blanks. You may take this list to various building supply outlets and or local builders. Some of your answers may require additional changes to our stock plans. We will review the questionnaire with you when writing your Specifications as part of our Construction Print Package ($1,800.00) at one of our meetings as we complete your plans. Builders will need your Specifications for a complete itemized quote. Changes can still be made during construction, but will require extra change orders.
